INGLEMOOR STUNG BY BOYS IN BLUE The KingCo opener for both Inglemoor & Bothell went extra frames to produce a winner - the 2nd in as many nights for the Vikings. Bothell big ace struggled a bit early with two walks in the 1st to Sammy Johnston and Jordan Sui. A stolen base and a wild pitch plated the Vikings first run as johnston scored. The Bothell righty settled some and struck out the next two hitters to end the threat. Inglemoor relied on the wing of Spencer Trautmann who was making his 2nd appearance of the young season tonight. Trautmann was masterful early and through 4 innings had yet to allow a hit. But the Vikings were as quiet. The youngster Mitchell Gunsolus singled sharply to left, stole 2nd base and then scored an a double by Sammy Johnston In the 5th the Cougar catcher singled to right center and after the only miscue of the game on an errant pick off attempt, he was standing at 3rd. A soft fly to right scored him and the Cougars were on the board. The Vikings had opportunities to separate themselves in this one but were unable to score runners in scoring position in both the 5th & 6th inning. Now, in the 7th and 1 out sophomore Mitchell Gunsolus struck again singling to right center - his 3rd hit of the day. One thing led to another and down to his last strike, Sammy Johnston dribbled an infield hit towards short and flew to 1st to beat out the SS play. The Vikes would score no more. Eric Edwards took the hill in relief and and surrendered a couple hits. Moments later the 'other blue' laid a heavy toll of the young lefthander disallowing an inning ending double play where no outs were recorded on a one of the more incredible calls we have seen in such a situation. Bothell raced to a 3-2 lead only to be tied by the Gunsolus / Johnston connection in the 2nd half of the frame. The 8th belonged to Bothell who found themselves with the bases corked and 1 out. A tough 10 pitch at bat resulted in a free pass to 1st ending the game and sending a disappointed Vikings club home with the loss - despite controlling most of the game. Rematch - April 23rd at Valhalla
