VIKINGS STUMBLE LATE VS LIBERTY

The season opened in Renton against the Liberty Patriots Friday. The   Vikings wasted no time plating 2 runs in the first with Jordan Sui and Scott Meyers reaching home with base on balls and a pair of Patriot errors. Eric Edwards threw 3 solid innings for Inglemoor giving up just 1 run before turning the ball over to Erick Raynes.  The big right hander battled making the pitches he needed to allowing just 1 run in two innings.  Inglemoor took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 6th after Scott Meyers doubled home Mitchell Gonsolus from 1st.  However, the 6th was a nightmare for the Vikings who made 3 errors before recording an out. Sam Johnston took the hill to start the 6th but struggled some with a couple walks and a base hit mixed in with the errors. Tyler During came into relieve and was unable to get through the heart of the Patriot line up surrendering a couple hits and a home run.  It was 10-3 before the Vikings could get off the field and a scoreless 7th for the Vikings capped the Liberty win. A disappointing end to an otherwise decent 1st game highlighted by Jordan Sui banging out 3 base runners attempting to steal, the Vikings chance to rebound is on 3/19 against the Mariner Marauder's in Everett.
