Inglemoor Rolls To State Defeats 5th Ranked Heritage 9-4
Obadiah Taylor pitched another outstanding game when his Vikings needed it and earned Inglemoor its first trip to State since 2001. The big sophomore threw 6 innings allowing just 3 hits while striking out 6 before turning the ball over to Eric Edwards to shut the door. Offensively the Viks swung it well again with senior Erick Raynes doing the most damage. The Viking 1st baseman hit two screamers on the day - a double high off the wall and a home run that he lined into the trees. He scored 3 runs and had a pair of RBI's. Scott Meyers and Sam Johnston each went 2-4 with a double. Logan Moen had a paid of base hits on the afternoon as well knocking in Mitchell Gunsolus with a two out single in the 1st. Eric Edwards clutch 2 out bases loaded single in the bottom of the 5th sealed the deal scoring two and giving Inglemoor a 6 run lead at 9-3. The Play of the Day was turned in by junior Centerfielder Marc Dickerson who made one of the most spectacular catches imaginable in deep right center. With 2 runners on and the Viks holding a 6-3 lead in the 5th, Dickerson got a jump on a deep drive and made a diving snag on a ball over his shoulder and landed on the warning track - a ball that that would have easily scored 2 Timberwolves. The catch preserved the lead and Heritage never really threatened again. The win puts Inglemoor into the State playoffs. The Viks look to travel to play Puyallup in the first round of the sweet 16 next Saturday in Kent. WAY TO GO VIKING BASEBALL !!
