Vikings Knock Falcons From Play Offs 10-3

Taylor & Moen Feed On Pressure

In the 2nd round of the KingCo Playoff's the Woodniville Falcons took on the Inglemoor Vikings . It was the rubber match game of the 2009 season between these Nortshore rivals.  Each had a win apiece over their foe this year but tonight was the big one - a loser out game. Neither was ready to have their season end as Bothell's had earlier in the day vs Issaquah.

The Vikings, who were the visitor due to seeding despite playing at Valhalla, quickly established they were here to play ball. A Sam Johnston base on balls and a Jordan Sui single put two runners in scoring position for 3rd baseman Logan Moen who exploded a 2-1 pitch on a line into the left center gap. Both Johnston & pinch runner Craig Jacobson scored easily. Viks 2-0

Viking Super Soph Obadiah Taylor said he wanted the start this afternoon despite a tender ankle injured vs Lake Wash a week ago.  He had missed his previous start but got the ball in this one.  Taylor came out smoking - he allowed 1 hit in the first two innings while striking out a pair. Inglemoor kept the pressure on offensively in the 3rd when Marc Dickerson singled and then ran the track to score on Mitchell Gunsolus double to left. Viks up 3-0

Woodinville responded with two back-to-back big fly's to get within one.  Taylor responded with throwing zero's for the next 3 innings and giving the offense a chance to make some magic..... A defining moment typical of the young right hander.

Sam Johnston opened the 5th with a single, was moved over by Jordan Sui and then was promptly plated by Logan Moen's second screaming double of the day. Viks 4-2

The Falcons rallied in the 5th with a walk and then a single.  With no outs the 6-hitter stung one towards 3rd. Moen made a fantastic snag of the chopper going over his head, spun and delivered a strike to the dish where Jordan Sui snagged the low throw and then stuffed the plate to nail the would-be tying run for the 1st out of the inning. (A definite Play of the Year candidate)  A ground ball followed and Johnston turned a solo DP in the middle to end the inning and excite the Viking faithful....which carried over to the top of the 6th.

4 hits, a walk and an error resulted in 6 Viking runs!  Both Johnston and Moen knocked in a pair with stinging singles in the inning. Even sophomore call up Connor Savage got into the act getting his first varsity hit to lead the inning off.

Obi was now on cruise control and allowed just one run the rest of the way preserving the Vikings 10-3 WIN and earning his 6th 'W' on the year. A complete game in the play offs when your teammates needed it most....  'The young man is obviously talented but to dominate like that against such a quality opponent with a bad leg is remarkable' commented Coach Goguen.  'That kind of heart is the stuff that makes a good team a great team" he added.  'Today we were a great team !"

Inglemoor plays Crest #2 seed Skyline who lost to Lake Washington 7-0 tonight. Skyline won the only match up earlier in the year 6-2.  Game time is 7 PM Tuesday evening at Woodinville HS
