Inglemoor Falls to Redmond 12-10
Despite scoring 10 runs against a #1 seed in Redmond, the Inglemoor Vikings found themselves looking up from the mat all evening in this one. This even started before the game when scheduled starter Obi Taylor was scratched from the line up due to a minor injury. But, like true Vikings, Inglemoor kept getting up off the floor, dusted themselves off and got back into the fight only to eventually fall 2 runs short in a 12-10 loss in the opening round of the Kingco playoffs. Redmond opened with 3 runs in the 1st but Inglemoor got within a run in the 3rd scoring twice. Eric Edwards was hit by a pitch then scored on a towering double by sophomore Mitchell Gunsolus. Later in the inning Gonzo scored on Logan Moen's ground ball leaving the Viks down 3-2. Redmond immediately responded with 3 more runs despite a valiant yet weary effort by the Vikings impromptu starter Spencer Trautman. Inglemoor, now down 6-2 got a run themselves in the 4th when Adam Mosebar doubled down the line and eventually scored on a balk caused by excellent base running on the part of teammate Eric Edwards at 1st. In the bottom of the 5th Redmond blasted a 2 run HR to take an 8-3 lead then 3 more in the 5th to go up 11-3. Knowing all good fights end up on the ground, Ingelmoor dug in. A couple walks, some fly ball issues in the outfield and singles by Gunsolus and Senior Jordan Sui and the Vikings were down 11-6. The Stangs responded with 1 run of new comber Spencer Goetz who pitched the 6th and did so well once he calmed himself down. Enter the 7th down 6 runs the Viks exploded with 2 outs. Trevor McMaster singled followed by singles from Gunsolus (his 3rd hit of the day) and by Sammy Johnston scoring McMaster. Then Jordan Sui hit the furthest ball of the year deep and way out of right center for a 3 run dinger to bring the Viks to within 2. A valiant 12 pitch battle by Logan Moen ended up with a ground ball to 2nd to end the game - Redmond winning 12-10. Inglemoor plays Woodinville who lost to Newport in a Loser Out contest this Monday 7 PM at Valhalla. The two teams split on the year and it promises to be another classic Northshore battle.
