VIKINGS TAKE REBELS IN EXTRA AT VALHALLA Our neighbors the Juanita Rebels came to play this evening and, in typical Juanita vs Inglemoor fashion, the game proved to be a barn burner to the end. Sophomore Obidiah Taylor got the start for the Vikes and he made quick work of the 1st three Rebels retiring them in order. Inglemoor was equally stalled by the Rebel starter Kurt Turfuss. But in the 2nd Scott Meyers doubled Eric Edwards to 3rd in time for Trevor McMaster to hit a Sac Fly and bring him home for the nights first tally. Obi was still dealing off the hill and left the game after 4 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out a pair...... an outstanding outing ! In the 4th the Vikings found their way to the Rebels pitcher and with a walk mixed in with singles by Scott Meyers and Logan Moen, another sophomore makes good as Mitchell Gunsolus drove a 1-0 pitch into the left corner for a double scoring all 3 of his fellow Vikings ahead of him. Marc Dickerson took the next pitch out of the yard for a 2-run Homer and a 6-1 Viking lead. Ryan McGee got the nod for the 5th but two miscues behind him to go along with a single and a pair of walks and the Rebels were closing the gap with speed. Tyler Duringer then made his 3rd appearance in as many games and quelled the fire but the Rebels closed to within 1 run. Duringer threw a dominant 6th including winning an 11 pitch battle with the Rebel 2nd baseman Padilla to lead the inning off. Inglemoor could not capitalize on a bases loaded situation in the 5th so the game came to the top of the 7th with the Vikes up 1. Senior Austin Hueter got the ball and got 2 quick outs. however a couple walks set the table for Juanita's 3rd baseman Zac Brandon who doubled down the LF line. Viking outfielder Eric Edwards, in for his defense at this time of the game, threw a laser from the corner to SS Sammy Johnston who followed with a strike of his own to catcher Ethan Yeo to nail the runner trying to score from 1st and keep the game tied at 7. Highlight reel play with perfect execution..... well done by all ! The Vikings managed two runners in scoring position in the 7th but the Rebels shut 'em down pushing the game in to extra innings. Hueter still had the ball and put himself in a tough spot early walking both of the first two batters. He bucked up tough tho getting the 1 & 2 hitters to pop up and roll over respectively to end the threat. Marc Dickerson then took charge and led off the bottom of the 8th stroking a single to center. He then stole second and third without drawing a throw to set up Inglemoors most dangerous hitter the past two seasons - Jordan Sui, 'Suzie' did not disappoint as he drove the 3-2 offering deep over the left fielders head and to the wall...... Dickerson scored with ease and the Vikings claimed their 2nd win of the year 7-6. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R H E Jaunita 0 0 0 1 4 0 1 0 6 6 1 Inglemoor 0 1 0 5 0 0 0 1 7 9 2 WP: Hueter LP: Rusch JHS Highlights - Olerain 2-5 2B, Kirback RBI 2B, Brandon Game Tying 2-out RBI 2B in 7th.
